The term Inglasur stands for inglaze decoration and describes a specific form of decoration and manufacturing process. In this case, the paint used for decoration is chemically similar to a glaze and does not require a final covering as it fuses directly with the body, resulting in a permanent decoration.
The term underglaze or underglaze decoration is used to describe items that also have a very durable decoration. Such items are fired again after decoration and receive a final glaze finish to protect the decoration.
A third method is referred to as overglaze or overglaze decoration, which is a type of finish often found on older decoration studio items and is very difficult to clean as the decoration is not protected. However, certain aspects of decoration benefited from the absence of a final glaze, so overglaze decoration had (and still has) its own justification.
