(abbreviated DPMA) is the name of the central patent and trademarks office since 1998. It was previously known as Deutsches Patentamt which (next to patents, as the name implies) was since 1949 also responsible for trademarks as the former Reichswarenzeichenregister (RWZR) had been dissolved.
