As I mentioned last year, I am overhauling my entire offline archive. Looking at the raw Multiverse of unidentified mark, reproduction rubbish, and misclaimed marks makes me dizzy, as it will contain over four times as many marks as were presented previously. The number of emails I receive each day has constantly increased over time. Nowadays, however, there are far more enquiries concerning dubious marks than a few years ago. I hope the new sections will help to cover that area of interest.
Some archive entries are extremely challenging. For producers like Rosenthal, I originally had a number of files that had been compiled some time ago. However, it soon became apparent that some data was repeated. I have removed such text block monsters, resulting in streamlined files containing dated one-liners, which are ready for the history to be written up. On the subject of Rosenthal, even Germans still do not understand that Rosenthal is history; they do not produce china anymore and are no longer a German company.
People who steal from others are not a joke. Jan-Erik Nilsson of Gotheborg-dot-com proves that I am a far better person than him. At least I know the difference between yours and mine, a concept he clearly fails to grasp, given that he relies on presenting illegally acquired text passages to improve his website. He does not give authors credit where it is due, nor does he respond to attempts to contact him regarding this matter. He is, of course, fully responsible for the content on his website, and has therefore made a real fool of himself.
People like Jan-Erik also have a negative influence on others, such as unscrupulous online sellers who knowingly use stolen material to provide background information on their items. For example, there was a certain (now ex-)seller on RubyLane (handle and real name on file) who mindlessly copied a text passage from Jan-Eriks website. They became quite rude when I politely asked for text credit, even pointing out the facts. Ultimately, their account was closed after I sent appeal to RubyLane support.
Take care, wherever you are !
