I am finally getting around to finalising my rather underestimated archive revamping job. This will take until the end of the year, after which I will be able to upload the updated To-Do lists based on the additions and changes I have made over the past year. Next, I will update the unidentified/misrepresented marks sections and pages, as I have quite a few additions and changes that have already been adapted to the new file structure, but which still reside in the old folder setup that will be removed by then.
During a meeting of local china collectors, people discussed their methods of storing information and the tools of their trade, including tablets and smartphones. I was asked if I preferred Microsoft or Apple operating systems, but I have been using Linux for over ten years now for both storage and development. My current main workhorse is a home-built desktop PC running Linux Mint 18 with the Cinnamon desktop. However, this does not mean that I hate Microsoft or Apple. Having used computers since 1983, I just know that Linux is far more efficient, secure and easier to use (given a certain basic computer knowledge).
Nerd note: the PM&M website uses an SSL certificate, meaning that it supports Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS). Please note that the site does not handle or require sensitive data. Even if you have access to the password-protected areas, your login details are not stored according to standard practices. In short, nobody can steal information that simply is not present. All relevant data (e.g. PayPal account name and email address) of site members is only stored offline, whereas the on-site password routine merely checks a username and passphrase.
Take care, wherever you are !
