This marking is often claimed to be a secondary trademark of the Erdmann Schlegelmilch factory due to its similarity in layout to the "E.S. Prov.Saxe. Germany" mark. However, I have not yet found this mark mentioned in any reliable older publications or seen it included in any published table of marks.
On the other hand, the items themselves are very similar indeed. I would have thought that people tried to match ES/EZ items using the same hand-painted codes. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that the Erdmann Schlegelmilch factory kept the scopes separate. Even if that would have been far too much effort for such a simple ruse.
