This mark, which has so far not been unidentified, has two main issues. First, the Fraktur typeface was never intended for use with abbreviations such as "F.R.G." in this case. The dots behind each capital letter were needed to improve readability; however, making something more difficult to write contradicts the purpose of an abbreviation. The second problem is, once again, readability. How many viewers actually believed they saw "ORIGINAL GERMANY" at first glance? Because that is not what it says - it's actually "ORIGINAL HERMANN". A third issue is the use of "F.R.G.", short for "Federal Republic of Germany", as the internationally recognised and accepted "Germany", "West Germany" or "W. Germany" was easier to use and relate to, not only for foreigners.
Some people have pointed out the similarities, and even the close matches, between figures bearing this mark and figures from either the Gisela Keilhauer studio or those from the Karl Klette business. The latter two worked closely together, literally sharing a kiln, and it was no secret that they purchased prefabricated moulds. This meant that the resulting figures were not unique, so basic similarities in style, or even identical figures, were completely normal, as multiple producers had access to the same moulds.
