This is an obvious attempt to cover up the studio mark of Franziska Hirsch from Dresden (Saxony, Germany). This only makes sense in the context of items of German origin being seen as politically incorrect during or after wartime, so they were defaced. One way of doing this was to scratch off or paint over the country of origin; sometimes, as shown here, people tried to deface the whole mark.
