Mark View M090621

The cover-up mark version hide original manufacturer marks which can be dated to around 1955-1969. Next to the C.M. Hutschenreuther marks, some Chalfonte marks include the addition "C.M.H. Royal Selection". These items can be easily dated as to have been created before 1969 as the two different Hutschenreuther companies merged that year and the old name of the factory in Hohenberg was replaced. Some decorations used include : Chateau, The Duchess, Enchanted Evening, Fantasy, Indian Summer, Kashmiri Rose, Rockgarden, Rose, Starlight and Summer Highlight (list incomplete). On top, some Chalfonte-marked items also include the name Saladmaster, trademark of M.H. Graham (Dallas, Texas).

Epecially the series/decoration Indian Summer is noteworthy as it exists in two identical versions, made by two different factories. As mentioned above, one was made by C.M. Hutschenreuther (Hohenberg) under the Chalfonte subbrand, while the other was created by L. Hutschenreuther (Selb) which sold theirs under the name Estate Porzellan, a subbrand they predominantly used for business with the U.S. Saladmaster company. You can guess who was responsible for the LHS Prüfstelle stickers found on some items, right ?
