Mark View M170802

This mark can be found in at least three forms. One has no additions; the second shows "Stamboul" (=> Constantinople and Byzantium => Istanbul) and the third reads "Beirout" (=> Beirut). Due to the poor quality of the cheap, transfer-decorated sets with poor bodies, a true Austrian origin is questionable. These items are claimed to have been made "between 1900 and 1930"; the names used were only common before 1918. So far, I have found examples of the following basic colourations: "Stamboul green", "Stamboul pink", "Stamboul red", "Stamboul yellow" and "Beirout red". The earliest re-purchase I have heard of was at an estate sale in 1975.
