This specific mark was (and still is) often copied and reproduced. However, it is very easy to tell the basic versions apart: if the mark is stamped or transfer-applied, the item in question is modern or a reproduction - no discussion, no exceptions. It should also be noted that the term "beehive" may suffice as a rough description of the shape of the mark itself, but only if it is shown incorrectly (with the flat side down). The original Royal Vienna factory, as well as all genuine followers in that line of art (e.g. Weingarten), use(d) the so-called "Bindenschild" ("banded shield"), which is of course only shown correctly when the flat side is at the top. A version very similar to this one (with minor differences in font sizing) can be found listed as M230308. It is possible that this version belongs to the same creator.
