Marks can be read as either A. d. R & Co. or A. de R & Co., and in both cases, the decorations are poor, either transferred or poorly hand-painted, so it appears that the mark is that of a retailer or store.
Sellers sometimes claim that these items are from quot;around 1930", completely forgetting that the Carlsbad region has belonged to the state of Czechoslovakia since 1918. Therefore, the use of "Austria" in this mark suggests a date prior to 1918.
