Very little is known about this manufacturer, most likely because the business only existed for a very short time. Friedrich Wilhelm Wessel founded the factory in 1949, mainly producing lace figurines and porcelain household items. From the outset, he was in constant trouble for misusing the "Dresden" designation (e.g. "Dresden Art", "Dresdner Art", etc.), as his items were not decorated in Dresden, in any Dresden style, nor by workers who had learnt the trade in a Dresden studio.
In addition, Wessel also used a slightly modified, yet still unauthorised, copy of an older Frankenthal mark, which only served to exacerbate his problems. The only thing that is certain is that he was not related to the well-known Wessel family from Bonn (North Rhine-Westphalia).
