Porzellanmanufaktur Neundorf

Porzellanmanufaktur Neundorf, also known as Neundorf Zierporzellan, was a short-lived brand which, alongside a multitude of online sellers using fake background stories, was mainly distributed by Antik 2000 GmbH, a company based in the Bavarian town of Waging am See. The company owned four "factory outlet stores", which sounded impressive; however, Neundorf never actually produced anything, and most items sold there were cheap Asian imports. Similar items (actually the same items, only with differently customised marks) could be found on the websites of similar companies in Belgium and the Netherlands. Like those companies, the firm behind the Neundorf brand started off selling porcelain items and later expanded its range to include reproduced oil paintings, other decorations, and a wide variety of small furniture pieces.

In around August 2011, I heard a rumour which was soon confirmed: the business behind it all must have discussed falling sales and ever-increasing prices from their Asian suppliers. The last time I checked, in mid-January 2012, the website stated that they were no longer ordering items due to the increased prices, and were merely selling off existing stock. At the same time, the website stated that the last operational outlet store in Gelsenkirchen was due to close "in 2013". It was still open in November 2013, but closed shortly afterwards. I doubt that this will be the last we hear of them.
