Vocabulary:

On various pieces you may find a mark stating Dresden, Dresden Art, Dresdener Art or Dresdner Art even if the pieces are not made in the city of Dresden. Even if they are different ways of writing, the markings all simply declare that the piece was decorated in 'Dresden style'.

Over the time, the facilities and decorators in Dresden had developed a specific style for their goods which became very popular. This was then copied by a large number of porcelain decorators or facilities outside Dresden who all wanted to profit from the well-known design.
